Safety

Every block, every surface, every zone — designed with safety as the foundation.

Block Design

Mine to Craft blocks are engineered from high-density, closed-cell foam. Each block is 1-2 feet in size, lightweight enough for a toddler to carry, and firm enough for older kids to stand on. The interlocking mechanism keeps structures stable during play but allows easy disassembly.

There are no sharp edges, no hard surfaces, and no small parts. Every block is a single solid piece of foam with rounded corners and smooth surfaces. The interlocking tabs are wide and blunt — they hold blocks together through friction and geometry, not force.

Venue Safety

Every Mine to Craft venue features padded flooring throughout all play areas — the same impact-absorbing surfaces used in gymnastics facilities. Falls and tumbles are a natural part of active play, and our flooring ensures they're just part of the fun.

Play zones are separated by age group. Toddler zones (ages 2-4) use smaller, lighter blocks and lower maximum build heights. Older kid zones (ages 5-12) feature full-size blocks and more space for ambitious builds. Trained staff supervise all zones at all times.

Staff members are trained in child safety, first aid, and our specific play protocols. They monitor build heights, manage zone capacity, and ensure all children are playing safely. Staff-to-child ratios are maintained at levels that allow attentive supervision.

Materials & Testing

All Mine to Craft foam is non-toxic, hypoallergenic, and latex-free. Our materials are tested and certified to meet ASTM F963 (Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Toy Safety) and comply with all applicable CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) guidelines.

The closed-cell foam structure means blocks don't absorb liquids, don't harbor bacteria, and are easy to clean and sanitize. We use hospital-grade, child-safe disinfectants on a daily cleaning schedule, with spot-cleaning throughout the day as needed.

Our blocks are manufactured to strict quality standards with consistent density, color-fast dyes, and UV-stable materials. They're designed to maintain their shape and performance through years of daily use.

Safety FAQ

What are the blocks made of?

Our blocks are made from high-density, closed-cell foam — the same type used in gymnastics pits and professional play equipment. They're firm enough to stack and stand on, but soft enough that impacts don't hurt.

Are the materials tested?

Yes. All foam materials are tested to meet ASTM F963 (Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Toy Safety) and CPSC guidelines. They are certified non-toxic, hypoallergenic, and free from lead, phthalates, and other harmful substances.

What if a structure falls on a child?

The blocks are designed to be lightweight relative to their size. Even a large structure collapsing produces minimal impact force. Combined with padded flooring, a toppling tower is startling but not dangerous.

How are the blocks cleaned?

Blocks are cleaned daily with hospital-grade, child-safe disinfectant. The closed-cell foam doesn't absorb liquids or harbor bacteria like open-cell foam would.

What about kids with allergies?

Our foam is hypoallergenic and latex-free. We maintain a clean, low-dust environment. If your child has specific allergies, please let our staff know at check-in.

Is there a height or weight limit?

Blocks can safely support children within the 2-12 age range. Adults are welcome to play but should exercise normal caution when climbing on structures. Our staff can advise on safe building heights.
